Our childhood and the way we were treated by our parents and significant other contribute in forming:

  • Core beliefs and how we carry these into adulthood
  • The way we view ourselves and others
  • How many of these cycles are being maintained and near impossible to break

We all carry around life scripts or a story that we tell ourselves, such as ‘I deserve nothing’ or ‘I am not good enough’ or more positive ones like ‘I am good enough’ and ‘I deserve only goodness in my life’, which we may or may not be aware of. These play out in our relationships with others, and can even sabotage our relationships and careers. Often these scripts and stories govern the way we interpret situations and what others say to us, which can also stop us from reaching our full potential. We assume we are slaves to this script and story, but in reality when you have understood this more and have learned the necessary skills to challenge these beliefs:

Harley Street Psychology’s Confidentiality Policies

In order for therapy to be beneficial and successful, you need to talk openly about your problems, hopes, dreams, fantasies and fears etc. It is normal to be concerned about the confidentiality of information exchanged with your therapist. Your privacy and confidentially are assured at all times.

This means that therapists at Harley Street Psychology cannot divulge any personal information about you or what you have discussed in a session to anyone unless you have provided us with consent to do so. Psychotherapists are required to keep all information confidential unless they have good reason to believe that a person’s life is in danger, a child is being sexually or physically abused, or they receive a court order for information pertaining to a case for trial.

If you decide to use your health insurance to pay for therapy, be aware that your insurance company and, in some cases, your employer, will need to have access to information about your mental health. Therapists are required to provide information so that individuals can receive benefits and this typically involves making a diagnosis from the DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) and giving treatment information. Some people choose to pay for therapy privately so that their mental health treatment will not become a matter of record.

We chose to be therapists because of our compassion and sincere desire to be of assistance to you and to see you through the process of achieving a healthy and happy life… a life that we all deserve!

One of our strengths at Harley Street Psychology is the ability to create a nonjudgmental, safe and confidential environment for people to gain insight into why they think and behave the way they do.

First and foremost we are real people, then we embrace the role of professional therapists. Once we understand the challenges or concerns that are presented, we can then collaborate to do a developmental history as to how you have been conditioned to think, feel and respond. As we progress with therapy and move into the present, we design action plans for personal awareness and growth. We are very proactive in our sessions and we will encourage you to implement positive action plans that we collaborate on together.

Therapy is not only the “talking cure”, it’s all about action too.
